al-Turayya Project (مشروع الثُريّا)

The al-Ṯurayya Project consists of the al-Thurayyā Gazetteer and the geospatial model of the early Islamic world (both under development). The Gazetteer indexes the toponyms and routes based on Georgette Cornu’s Atlas du monde arabo-islamique à l'époque classique: IXe-Xe siècles (Leiden: Brill, 1983). The Geospatial model plots maps and itineraries and visualises networks of reachable places from selected centres.
