The University of Jordan Archaeological Museum was established in 1962. The museum collection is the outcome of the excavations carried out by the Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism in several archaeological sites, including Tell Siran, Jerash, Petra, Tell al-Mazar, Tell Nimren, Yajuz, Rujum el-Kursi, Wadi al Yutum and Magass (Aqaba), Tell Abu es-Sawwan, Tell es-Sukhnah and Ein al-Beida (Amman).
The museum collection is organized in chronological order, extending from Prehistoric to the Late Islamic periods. The archiving software is developed by the University Information Technology Center and includes the historical scientific description of the artifact, as well as the source of the object, its condition, any previous restoration works, and its location in the museum.
